Capitals go 1-2 in weekend action
The Walkerton Capitals bantam LL boys went 1-2 over the weekend, beating Saugeen Shores but losing to both Kincardine teams.

The Capitals, sponsored by the Walkerton-Hanover Veterinary Clinic, opened the weekend Friday with a 2-0 loss at home against Kincardine #1.

The boys faired better in action Saturday morning, besting the visiting Saugeen Shores Storm by a score of 2-1. Luke Schmidt scored both goals for Walkerton, with assists by Braydon Grife and Logan Morrison. Lucas Rowe picked up the win in net.

On the road that afternoon, Walkerton skated hard against Kincardine #2 – the second team in the league – but couldn’t pull off the win. It was a 1-0 contest going into the third, but playing three games in two days caught up to the Capitals as they allowed four goals in the final frame for the 5-0 final.

Walkerton’s record now stands at 3-7-1. The boys are on the road again Sunday, Dec. 17 when they face off against the Bruce Peninsula Northstars in Lions Head at 7 p.m.
