First Regular Game,First Win For The OMHA Midget's
The Walkerton Capital's Midget Team traveled to Wingham's home barn Thursday night for there first regular game of the season, hoping to come out with the win and did just that, the boys played a hard fought game winning 7-2. Ice conditions were not the greatest that evening, for both sides, as the weather outside the arena was very warm,eventually both sides persevered, and overcame the difficulty.
Not a good start to the game, down 1-0 @ the 13 minute mark of the 1st, as i mentioned earlier the ice conditions were not the greatest, the puck seemed to have a mind of it's own that night as it hopped over our defensemen's stick and right onto the Wingham's forward stick standing at the net, not long after @ around the 11 minute mark the boys came back tying the game, where it stayed until the end of the first.
The Cap's put one in on a power play, part way into the second giving us a 2-1 lead, but Wingham wasn't done tying it up again, and eventually keeping it tied until the third, Both teams saw numerous penalties that evening as the refereeing was maintaining control over the young player's.
Third period action was mostly Walkerton, scoring 4 goals to give the Cap's the win, both teams played a tough physical hockey game, with numerous chances from both sides, but both goaltenders played fabulous keeping that mind of it's own puck out from behind them. scoring for Walkerton was Zettle, Busby, Mattingly, Visser, Weiler and Young, with Keiffer between the pipes for the win.
First home game is Oct 30th @ 9 pm.
