Game 14 vs. South Bruce Blades
The Walkerton Capitals played the South Bruce Blades on Monday, January 16, 2017 in Teeswater.  The evening game would be a highly contested match that would require each member of the team to play to their full potential.

With the puck drop the two teams would fight for puck possession and control in the opponents end.  The defensive pairings would limit shots that would make it through to the goaltender and any shots that did make it to the net were either steered out of harms way or covered up.  The two teams would continue to pressure and Walkerton came close when a shot rang off the crossbar.  The period would end with no scoring from either team.

The second period and Walkerton came out quickly with speed and constant pressure.  The Capitals would score at 2:42 into the frame when Logan Bradley sent a back hand shot high and past the Blades goalie, assisting on the goal was Wes Hunt.  South Bruce would respond quickly when just 45 seconds later the puck was tucked behind the Capitals goalie to tie up the score.  As time was winding down Walkerton’s Travis Goll scored after taking a pass from Jack Walter at 8:54 to put the Capitals in the lead for good.  Walkerton lead 2-1 after twenty minutes.

The third period and the Capitals would find themselves in penalty troubles.  The boys were able to kill off two penalties by clearing the puck out of its defensive zone.  South Bruce would continue to pressure but were unable to score.  In a last ditch effort the Blades would pull their goalie for an extra attacker but again the Walkerton defence and forwards would prevent the puck from reaching the net.

Another solid performance from the boys.  The passing game was strong and everyone was working hard to get to any loose pucks.  The back checking was great throughout the game and this would limit the qualities of the shots that South Bruce was able to fire on the net.  The win moves Walkerton into second place in its division.
