Two goals for Bell, another win for Morrison
Justin Bell scored twice on Monday to lead the Walkerton peewees to a 4-3 playoff win over the Sepoys in Lucknow. Logan Morrison earned his second win in net for the Capitals.

Bell scored his first goal in the opening two minutesof the game, assisted by Cobi Johnson. Lucknow tied it up a few minutes later after a scramble in front of the net.

Xander Thornton set up Kobe Dautey on Walkerton’s second goal. His shot from the top of the circle hit the goalie’s glove and bounced in for the 2-1 advantage.

Good heads-up plays from Kyle Romphf, Cole Cassidy and Tayt Weber, along with quick feet by Tyler Wallace, Luke Schmidt and Liam Osborne helped the Capitals stay ahead.

The Sepoys made it a 2-2 game with four minutes remaining in the second but less than 60 seconds later, Dautey passed from behind the net to Brayden Grife who put the Capitals back on top.

There were excellent scoring chances on both sides in the third period, with Morrison coming up with some big saves for Walkerton. Bell scored his second of the game, assisted by Dylan Reay and Alex Brandt, with a minute left to play. A late power play goal by Lucknow shook things up but Walkerton skated away with the 4-3 win.

Regular goalie Lucas Rowe is expected to return for the Capitals’ next game on Saturday when they visit Mount Forest. Walkerton, currently tied for first in the division, will play its final game of the opening round March 8 against the West Grey Warriors #2.
