Legion peewees undefeated in playoffs
The Walkerton Royal Canadian Legion Branch 102 peewee LL boys remain undefeated with a 2-0-1 record after three of eight round-robin playoff games.

The Capitals defeated the Lucknow Sepoys 2-0 at home on Sunday, with Walkerton goal tender Lucas Rowe picking up his third shutout of the season. Justin Bell scored both goals for the Capitals, netting his first marker early in the opening period and adding the insurance goal near the end of the second. Luke Schmidt assisted on both goals with other helpers going to Cole Cassidy and Dylan Reay.

Cassidy and Alex Brandt had strong performances on the blueline while Logan Morrison worked hard in the corners. Numerous shots on net were recorded by forwards Tayt Weber, Kyle Romphf and Tyler Wallace. Kobe Dautey and Brayden Grife had some good passing plays up front as well.

Walkerton had to kill a 3-5 early in the third but managed to hold off the Sepoys. Lucknow played a strong third period and had several good shots on net, but solid defence by Liam Osborne and Xander Thornton, coupled with some good saves by Rowe, kept the Sepoys off the board. At the other end of the ice, Grife had some good chances of his own, almost beating the Lucknow goalie a few times.

The Capitals missed the efforts of Kody Brown in this game, who is out for the season due to injury.

In WOAA playoff action on Saturday, Walkerton skated to a 4-4 tie at home against the Saugeen Shores Storm #2. Goals were scored by Weber, Bell, Grife and Wallace, with assists from Osborne (2), Romphf, Wallace, Schmidt, Dautey, and Weber.

The Capitals travel to Southampton this Saturday, Feb. 25 for a re-match with the Storm. They host the West Grey Warriors on Sunday, Feb. 26 at 9:15 a.m. and visit Lucknow on Monday, Feb. 27 for a 6 p.m. start.
