WOAA GREGG DIVISION CHAMPIONS
Congratulations to the McIntee Atom Rep Boys Team on capturing the WOAA Gregg Division last night. It was a hard fought battle between Hanover and Walkerton.
The series started out with two convincing wins by Walkerton, 5 to 2 and 7 to 1 to take the 2 games to nothing lead, however Hanover did not give up and played two very good games to beat Walkerton 3 to 1 and 5 to 1. In game 5 after the boys listened to their usual ACDC and getting a very encouraging pep talk from the Coaching Staff they were ready to play hockey and boy did they ever, they came out and played one of their best games of the season!! Early on it was a defensive battle until Aiden Hinsperger broke free and scored with 3:11 left in the second period. It stayed that way until Ryan Fleischauer scored with 8:12 left in the period. With 4:26 Zach Saunders made it 3 to nonthing for the home side. After a Time Out was called to help calm the players and coaching staff the boys were ready to finsih off the game and with 26 seconds left Aiden scored the empty netter to seal the deal. Our goalie Ryan Fotheringham played an awesome game and made a huge save early in the second period on a breakaway, all 5 games were won by the team scoring the first goal so it was a HUGE save!
Our Defence of Sky Berfelz, Cameron Klein, Turner McKenzie and Keaton Eidt played a very well and battled with the Hanover forwards all night and kept the Hanovers shooters away from our goalie.
The rest of the forwards Riley Keip, Adam Girdler and Tyler Folmer all picked up assists and did a great job of forechecking and backchecking all night!!
