Larson's Bantam BB Girls Win Barrie Tournament
   Larsen's Bantam BB Girls team headed to Barrie for their first tournament of the year. They played their first game Friday afternoon against the Kitchener Lady Rangers.Larsen's came out strong and scored two first period goals by Jordan Ahrens (pick-up) and Nicole Mckague to lead 2-0 after one period. Brina Hudson extended the lead to 3-0 after two. Kitchener scored an early goal in the third but Nicole's second goal of the game extinguished any thought of a comeback.Final score was 4-1.

    Larsen's next game was against the Huntsville Sting Friday night.Larsen's came out strong once again but could not beat the Huntsville goalie and with single goals in the first and second periods Huntsville had a 2-0 lead after two periods.Larsen's showed that never give-up attitude and Melissa Pennington buried a rebound to make it 2-1 early in the third.They had numerous chances to tie it up but couldn't beat the Huntsville goalie again.Huntsville added two more goals(one in the empty net) to make the final 4-1 Huntsville.
    Larsen's went into the final game of pool play against the Sudbury Wolves with everything on the line.Win and they finish first in their pool,a tie or loss and they would be eliminated.Brina scored in the first period and Hillary Holyome scored in the second period to give Larsen's a 2-0 lead after two periods.Sudbury got one goal in the third period but Larsen's shut them down the rest of the way having to kill off a couple penalties to secure a 2-1 win.With the win Larsen's finished first in their pool and played Ottawa Valley Thunder in the semi-finals Saturday night.
   The first period was scoreless with both teams having chances to score.Hillary broke the tie with a wraparound goal in the second period and added an insurance goal minutes later.That was all Larsen's needed with strong defensive play be everyone especially by Hope Diebold,Erika Spitzig,Alli Meyer, and Courtney Wilken(Larsen's defense).Also Cassidy Priestap continued her solid goaltending and earned the shut-out.
    Larsen's played Kitchener Lady Rangers again in the finals on Sunday.They continued their strong defensive play and shut down Kitchener and won 3-0. Victoria Weber scored in the first and Mikayla Whitney and Victoria scored in the second and then they shut down Kitchener the rest of the way. Cassidy earned another shut-out in the finals.
    It was a great tournament with every forward getting a goal and Cassidy and the defense allowing only 6 goals(one in an empty net) in 5 games.
