Weekend Split with Hanover and Howick

Walkerton Collision Atom Local League had 2 games the weekend and came away with a win and a loss. On Saturday the team traveled to Hanover to play a very strong Hanover Falcons team, we were short one player so we had 2 lines and 3 defenseman, so lots of ice time for everyone!

The game started out slow on both sides and there were good chances to score at both ends, if it were not for the crossbar and the goalies helmet we would have had 2 goals but those are the breaks, and after both of these chances Hanover scored within 20 seconds. Overall we played well but came out on the wrong end of a 4 to nothing score. The team nominated Cameron Klein as the hardest worker of the game and he got to wear the yellow fireman helmet in the dressing room after the game.

On Sunday Howick visited Walkerton and Howick came to play as they played an excellent first period as we were down 2 to 1 after one period of play. In the second period Walkerton came to play and scored 5 goals in the period. In the third period both teams scored 2 goals each to end the game 8 to 4 for Walkerton! Howick has improved as a team from our last meeting and gave us a tough time all game. Ryan Fotheringham earned the Yellow Fireman Helmet for his strong play during the game as he made many great saves and at least 3 that were sure goals! The scorers for the game were Craig Reaman (3), Tyson Hinds (3), Cameron Klein and Eddie Mckee. Assists went to Cameron (4), Emily Holliday, Tyson, Eddie, Alex Kunkel and Tyler Crummer. Even though Tate Elphick and Clint Holliday were not on the score sheet they both provided some aggressive play to help the team earn the win.
