Walkerton Collision Collides with Listowel
It was all about home ice advantage in this game against Listowel, which ended with a shut out for goalie Ryan Fotheringham.
Walkerton Collision Atom LL 1 team knew that Listowel was going to be a tough opponent before they hit the ice, so after a pep talk from Coach Mike and Coach Greg, they knew what they had to do to win, and how they would accomplish it.
Coming out strong in the first period, all of our LL Boys worked hard together to create many chances, most shut down by the tough Listowel goalie. Late in the first the boys found the way around him, Tyson Hinds passing to Cameron Klein, to an open Tyler Crummer sunk the first puck of the afternoon. Not long after Craig Reaman fed the puck to Klein who also found the back of the net, leaving the first period in a 2-0 lead.
Second period was played just as hard, with few openings from Listowel, our forwards, Emily Holliday, Clint Holliday, Eddie McKee, Klein, Alex Kunkel, Hinds, and Reaman all worked hard at creating plays, working well as a team, passing the puck and making sure they were out in the open, it was a great game to watch. A pass from Hinds to Kunkel found an open C Holliday, who made a beeline to the net and fooled the Listowel goalie, making it a 3-0 game.
Heading into the third, defencemen Lucas Fortney, Crummer and Tate Elphick knew that they had to keep the puck at the other end to keep it a scoreless game, and they delivered! With the play solid in the Listowel end, Hinds went to work, one goal assisted by Elphick and Kunkel, and another unassisted. Working hard, Crummer managed to place the puck on Reaman's stick to score the 6th of the game, leaving the game a 6-0 score, and a well deserved shut out for our Fantastic goalie, Ryan Fotheringham.
