Georgian Shores Silver Medal Winners
Hockey, hockey and more hockey in Georgian Shores for the Peewee Rep Legion boys this weekend. Five great games of hockey with excellent team work resulted in a silver medal for their first tournament of the season.
The Legion boys have been working hard and have had several wins, and come up short in some regular season and exhibition play. Newly christened goaltender, Christian Kieffer has quickly moved into his new role and the team has proven already they will be a source to be reckoned with!!! After round robin play in the tournament Walkerton squeaked into the semi finals by 1/2 point over North Middlesex and earned second place in Pool A. They then faced Wallaceburg, the 1st place team in Pool B. Walkerton hungry for a spot in the championship game led 3-1 after the 1st period and ended the game with a 7-1 victory. Dakota Weiler earned a hat trick and 2 assists. Singles went to Austin Kelly, Tristan Zettel, Evan Visser and Ryan Girdler.
When it came to the championship game, Walkerton would settle for silver against a very strong team from Minto. Nevertheless it was a great weekend of hockey, a silver medal, teamwork and fun!
