Leo Al Contracting Pee Wee Girls record big win
In their previous outing the Leo Al Pee Wee Girls shut down the strong Saugeen Shores team and thanks to a goal by Lily Huber held them to a 1-all tie.  They used that momentum to carry them into their next game against the mighty team from Kincardine.  Walkerton was facing a team they had been unable to defeat all season, yet thanks to the outstanding goaltending of Dana B they held them scoreless until deep into the game.

Walkerton started off the scoring in the first period with back to back goals at the 6 and 7 minute marks.  Leading the way with a ricochet goal was Madison D with assists by Madeline M and Lily Huber.   Just over a minute later Taylor B flicked a backhander into the net after being fed the puck by Jenna E- Megan L combination.

And there the scoring held through the rest of the first and all of the second period.  Strong defensive work by Samantha S, Melissa L, Sydney K and Moira R ensured the puck stayed out of the net.

In the third an early Kincardine goal could have meant trouble, but Pilar D, who took over the net minding duties part way through the 2nd period, shut the door every time she needed to.

Walkerton, in what can only signal good things for the upcoming year end tournament, kept the play in the Kincardine end for a lot of the game. Good offensive play by Trinity W and Emily E, along with the rest of the offense, saw a number of scoring chances turned away by some great saves by the Kincardine goaltender.

The Leo Al Contracting Pee Wee Girls has been a team showing constant improvement over the season.  Led by the fantastic effort by Madeline M to get better every game, the entire team has developed a strong work ethic and a never give up attitude that will serve them well for the remainder of this year and in the hockey seasons to come.  Congratulations to Coach Steve Elliott and staff Diane Laird, Steve Laird, Andy Smillie and Sarah Slater for your big win.
