Deja vu
Here we go again!  2 teams, one puck, in one arena, one winner!

Well its game 2 of regular season play, could it be déjà vu?  Atom L League #1 and #2 back for yet another match up against each other!  After yesterdays 5-1 victory for LL #1, team #2 would be sure to come out blazing.  Would our boys be ready?  I certainly hope so!      Not to disappoint coaches, fans, or parents the boys came out of the gate like a stallion on a mission.  Déjà vu all over again!  Yep Coleman Meyer starting the game off like he did the day before.  A quick blast past the opposition’s goalie and we have a 1-0 game already.  Steven Ottewell and Austin Hogg were right there for the assists.  As if that wasn’t an exciting enough start, Meyer turned around and did it again mere seconds after his first goal.  Nathaniel (Nate) Illerbrunn and Ryan Lair assisted Meyer for this sweet goal.  Great team work boys!  All I can say is the boy is on “FIRE”!!! Way to go Coleman!       Taking the lead from Meyer another young player decides to pull out all the stops and land himself his first goal of the season.  Willie (Wheels) Schmidt puts one on the scoreboard.  Well not to be out done by his teammate and comrade.  “Wheels” puts on his wheels so to speak and squeals down the ice on a break away for yet his second goal of the game as well.  Leading this 2nd game with a 4-0 score you could feel the intensity rising on the opposition’s bench.  With all of this happening in just the first period of play, no one knew what to expect in the 2nd.  With an almost penalty free game up to this point and both teams playing very well the 2nd period would prove to be nothing but pure excitement!      With 8:30 in the 2nd showing on the time clock.  Andrew Young puts one in the net off a beautiful pass from defenseman Michael Fortney.  Who I might add was also playing forward at the time.  Nice job Andrew and Michael!  Two minutes later Daylan Hopcraft nets one to mark his first of the season.  BIG Eddy McKee sends it over to Willie Schmidt who carries it up the ice and passes across to Daylan who was right where he was suppose to be, and into the net.  All I have to say is great teamwork and nice “POSITIONAL” playing boys!!!  Kudos to the coach maybe they really are listening!  Left or right “What side are we playing” LOL!      As the final minutes are winding down in the second period Willie (Wheels) Schmidt heads down the ice with teammate Daylan Hopcraft once again.  Daylan passes to Wheels and in for Willie’s 3rd of the game.  Nice hat trick Willie!  45 seconds left in the second period.  The boys are full of adrenalin and the WHEATIES they apparently all ate for breakfast before the game this morning.  WOW!!!  What a game so far!  Meyer decided he wasn’t quite finished his game yet either.  Down he went for his 3rd of the game and the final goal to be scored.  Steven Ottewell and Ryan Lair assisted Meyer in what turned out to be his hat trick of the game too!  Way to go Coleman!  Great job out there team!      With no scoring at all in the third period by either team, you could still feel the intensity in the arena.  Both teams battling it out till time runs out!  Although “Chase-Man” you weren’t kept to busy this game way to be ready for anything.  Keep your stick on the ice and your pads on bud!  I have a feeling things are going to heat up fast this season!      One final comment on a very exciting game, job well done by both teams!  A big thank you to Walkerton Collision our team sponsor this season.  Your generosity and support to minor hockey is truly appreciated.  Kudos to team #2 and their coaches for playing the game with true heart and sportsmanship, even when the chips where down for your team.  Your true spirit and actions certainly speak volumes and say a lot about your team.  I take my hat of to all of you!  Best of  luck to both of these teams throughout the 2011/2012 season.  As a parent I’m looking forward to a season of excitement and the thrill of watching these kids play this sport the way it was meant to be played.  PURELY FOR FUN!!!
