Walkerton Weber Electric vs Walkerton Prestige
It was a much anticipated pre-Christmas matchup between the two Walkerton Peewee local league teams. The teams had met at the very beginning of the season and left a 3-3 tie on the scoreboard. Today Weber's Electric took home an early present with a 4-1 win. Featured Player of the Game was goaltender Trevor Dillon who made several key saves to secure the victory.
These two teams provided great excitement for the fans with parents appearing to be cheering for both teams! That's an achievement all by itself! Both goaltenders Dillon for Weber's and Calder D for Prestige held off their opponents and the game remained scoreless with 4 minutes left in the 2nd period. Scott Eddyvean scored for Weber's, assisted by Joel Pletch and Connor Johnson. Austin K replied 2 minutes later to tie the game heading into the third period. Weber's wasted no time in the third period to regain the lead on a beautiful pass up the centre by Drew Cobean to Connor Johnson. The 1 goal lead was all that was necessary but Eddyvean scored unassisted with 1 minute left in the game and Johnson added his second goal assisted by Jared Pletch and Cobean with seconds remaining on the clock.
Way to go Weber's Electric who will face Hanover on January 7th at 3:45 pm, in Hanover, as part of Hanover's Hockey Day.
