A Busy Weekend for the Pee Wee Rep Girls
The Pee Wee Rep Lower Lake girls had a full weekend of hockey and for their dedicated fans, they did not disappoint! Saturday saw the girls play on home ice against Sarnia.  This was the fourth meeting between the teams.  The first two games favoured Walkerton but the the third game showed that Sarnia wa not giving up as it ended in a tie.  The fourth game started off pretty even but with less than two minutes in the first period, Young started it off with a goal, assisted by Holyome and Walsh.

The second period started off with a second quick goal for Walkerton from Walsh assisted by Konecny and Diebold.  It wasn't until early in the third period that Sarnia started their comeback, scoring one to bring the score to 2 - 1 but Walkerton came right back and scored a third goal, this time by Holyome, assisted by Thompson and McKague.  With time winding down, Sarnia pulled their goalie but Holyome capitalized on the empty net to seal the win with a final score 4-1.

Sunday was a road trip with two games to get in! The girls started off in Stratford against the undefeated Stratford Aces.  What an exciting game!  With many chances and shots on the Stratford net, Walkertons luck just wasn't pulling through.  Stratford ended the first period with a 1-0 lead.  In the second period Walkerton got right to work with a goal early on by Holyome, assisted by McKague.  The remainder of the period ended and the third period got underway with great plays, many chances, an amazing defensive line and some great saves by Priestap in net.  What a team effort in this exciting game.  The final score stayed 1 - 1.

The Pee Wee Girls had a break for lunch and hit the road again, this time to Tillsonburg for a late afternoon game.  Tillsonburg scored one goal in the first period but Walkerton found the energy and battled back in the second with goals by Hickling and Borho. Assists were awarded to Thompson, Walsh, VanLoon, and Konecny. The third period started off with Walkerton in good shape holding a one goal lead.  The excitement elevated as Tillsonburg tied up the game on a break away with just over three minutes left on the clock. Walkerton battled hard and proved that determination prevails! With less than two minutes on the clock, they pulled ahead with a goal by VanLoon, assisted by Hickling and Thompson and then sealed the deal with a goal by Walsh less than 20 seconds later, assisted by Konecny and Diebold. The final score was 4-2 for Walkerton. A great end to an exciting day!  Way to go Walkerton!
