MIDGET REP GIRLS GRAB SILVER AT SILVERSTICK
The Kinnette Midget Rep girls travelled to Sarnia this past week-end and proved they were one of the best teams in the province by earning a silver medal.

Their first game pitted them against Lambton Shores Friday morning and Walkerton came out with a decisive 6-1 win. Aston Nixon got Walkerton off to a good start, scoring 2 goals early in the 1st with Marielle Adams and Katrina Young earnind assists on the first goal and Hailey Fischer getting the assist on the second. Young upped the score to 3-0 with a beautiful tip on a point shot from Shae Busby with Nixon getting the second assist. Lambton Shores mades it 3-1 late in the second but Walkerton scored 3 goals in the third to seal the victory. Scoring in the third were Becky Busby, Lauren Smith and Christina Kaufman. Assist went to Becky Busby(2),Shae Busby,Alison Elphick, and Claire Tomlinson.
Katie Grubb earned the win.
Their next game was Friday night against Markham. and again 2 quick first period goals got Walkerton off on the right foot and they never looked back taking a 3-0 win back to their hotel rooms. Scoring in this one were, Smith, Becky Busby and Jocelyn King, with assists going to, Elphick, with 3 and Becky Busby with 2. Grubb earned the shut out.
On Saturday afternoon Walkerton tasted their first defeat coming up on the  short side of a 3-2 score against a strong and determined Southpoint team. Southpoint took a 3-0 lead in the third only to have Walkerton make it 3-2 with 5 minutes left in the third. Smith got Walkerton on the board first with Kaufman and Elphick assisting, and Lauren McLean notched her first of the tournament a minute later, from Becky Busby and Katrina Wyatt. Walkerton pulled their goalie but couldn't come up with the equalizer but still qualified for the quarter finals on Saturday night.
Their oppenent Saturday night was Petrolia. Becky Busby , from Smith, got Walkerton off to an early lead, again, and Walkerton's tight checking frustrated the Petrolia team as Grubb held the fort and earned her second shutout of the tourney and Walkerton was off to the semi's after a hard fought 1-0 win.
After a short nights rest, the girls were up early Sunday morning and a tough Twin Centre team was waiting.Becky Busby got Walkerton off to a 1-0 lead in the first with Smith assisting. Although quite tired and short handed, due to an injury to Adams, the Kinnette girls perservered and Becky Busby scored on a penalty shot late in the second to make it 2-0. Grubb made this score stand up the rest of the way with her best effort of the tournament and Walkerton was off to the finals with a 2-0 win.
Off to their 6th game in 3 days and their were no breaks waiting for the girls as Southpoint was there, in the finals waiting. Play was back and forth with tight checking and few chances for both teams but Southpoint broke through late in the third with a blast to the top corner that a screened Grubb had no chance on. With 2:30 left, Walkerton called a time out and did everything they could to even the score but Southpoint salted the victory away scoring into the empty net to make the final 2-0.

Walkerton Kinnette's girls should be very proud of their effort and sportmanship they displayed this week-end.
