Bantam Girls Year End
RKS Bantam Girls Make to final of WOAA

The RKS girls played in the year -end tournament over the week-end and made it to the finals.
Game #1 was against Normanby "C" on Friday night, and the girls came to play as we dominated from the drop of the puck. Good goaltending kept Normanby in the game or the score could have been worse as the girls prevailed 3-1. Goals by Hayley T, Jenah V, Kerrigan H.

Game #2 pitted our girls against Owen Sound "C", a team who we have not faced all year. It was a fast paced end to end game with both teams having numerous scoring chances. Goaltending and defence ended up being the difference for our girls as we kept them off the board all game. Melynda M manged to break through near the end of the 3rd period to put us in front for good, as Emalee H potted an empty net goal to seal a 2-0 victory and a trip to the finals. Great game from the goaltending duo of Bri D, and Madison E with the shut-out.

The final on Sunday would once again put us against our 'arch nemesis" Kincardine. This would be the 2nd time we would meet in a tournament as we managed to beat them 4-2 on our way to winning the Cambridge Tournament. With revenge and the championship on the line Kincardine came out flying and caught our girls flat footed as the took an early 1-0 lead.
The game stayed that way until halfway through the 3rd period when Kincardine managed an insurance goal on their way to a 3-0 victory. It wasn't to be our day this time as we didn't get the breaks we needed to beat a strong Kincardine squad, but the girls fought hard none the less.

Overall it has been a great season for the girls having won the Cambridge Tournament as well as going to the W.O.A.A Finals. But most importantly finishing with an overall record of 19 wins 9 losses and 7 ties against not only Houseleague teams but "C" teams as well, shows how competitive this team really is.

Congratulations to  Bri D, Madison E, Natalie H, Allie S, Selena W, Kerrigan H, Emalee H, Jenah V, Carly M, Hayley T, Melynda M, Carolyn G, Emily C, Niki L, Brooke W, on a great season as the team has come a long way from September to now.
