Atom Rep Girls Off to a Great Start
The Knights of Columbus Atom Girls Rep team have started off the season strong with 7 wins and only 1 loss. The girls are playing well as a team and each member is contributing each game whether they are on the scoresheet or not.
In recent action the team hosted Blyth/Brussels and skated away with a 2 to 0 win. Despite being down a few skaters this game, the girls showed great grit and determination throughout the entire game. The girls scored early in the game and and kept pounding the net for more. Finally, in the last few minutes of the game the girls scored after many scoring chances. Goals were scored by Stephanie Y and Jenna F.
Walkerton hosted Durham recently and outscored them 5 to 2. The girls had many opportunities to score and finally started to connect as the game went along. Scoring for Walkerton were Sophie B with two goals, and singles going to Samantha H, Brooke S and Stephanie Y. Providing assists were Baily T, Katie S, Jenna F, Emily , and Brina H. Victoria S earned the shut out between the pipes.
Our next opponent was Normanby. The girls skated away with a decisive 8-0 victory. The girls were passing and skating hard all game. The girls were buzzing around the net all game and making good defensive plays to stop the Normanby attack. Members of the team that scored two goals in the game were Justine M, Sophie B and Brina H. and Brooke S added a single marker. Stephanie Y. added three assists and Samantha H added one. Also, making great passes and having many scoring chances were Katie S, Emma F and Bailey T. Helping Victoria S with the shut out were Jenna F, Emily E, Moira R and Brooke S.
