On Wednesday night, still feeling confident from Saturday’s tie with Teeswater to break the long losing streak, the dressing room was electric with excitement before the game. The whole team, along with the parents and coaches, seemed hungry for a win.
The first period started with fairly even pressure on both ends. Goalie Ben had to make a lot of early saves to keep us in the game. With Michael and Austin working the blue line we had plenty of scoring opportunities ourselves. Finally, with 2:32 left in the 1st period, Chase put one in Kincardine’s net assisted by Nathaniel and Jayden. With 1:32 left in the 1st, Kincardine caught Ben off guard and we were stuck in another tie game. In the 2nd period, Walkerton came out even more determined to come up with a win. There was great passing by forwards Ryan, Willy, and Brett, then finally the go ahead goal scored again by Chase with assists going to Andrew and Jayden. This period also saw strong defense from Coleman and Noah. As the 2nd period was coming to a close, there was a puck battle which Daylan won and he was off on a breakaway. As the coaches were yelling to shoot, he lifted the puck over the goalie’s stick and the puck hit the back of the net as the buzzer went for the assurance goal. The 3rd period saw heavy pressure from Walkerton with very strong defensive play from Steven to keep the puck in the Kincardine end and Chase doing everything he could to earn the hat trick. The strong play kept Kincardine out of our end and the game ended with a final score of 3-1!!! Congratulations boys on a great game!! CH
