Losing End of Another Nail Biter
On Sunday January 2, our boys came out ready to play and avenge a previous loss to a strong Tiverton team.
Well rested from Christmas Break, the boys came out skating hard, but were quickly down 1-0. After shaking the dust off their skates, the home team scored on a goal scored by Jaden L, assisted by Chase H and Daylan H to tie the game. This seemed to set the pace for the game as there was never more than a goal difference between the two teams. Walkerton had many scoring opportunities with beautiful passes by Coleman M and Andrew Y in front of the net that just didn't seem to find the back of the net. Finally, tied 1-1 Willy S put one into the net over the goalie's head right off the face off in the Tiverton end. Tiverton responded and we were tied again until Ryan L put Steven O's rebound (a perfect scoring opportunity) between the Tiverton goalie's legs. In the third period, down 4-3 Nathaniel I scored his first goal of the season with a beautiful shot into the far corner of the net that brought out the cow bell from the Moms in the stands. Tied 4-4 late in the third period, Tiverton got one last lucky goal and we finished the game losing 5-4. Ben S made many great saves in net to keep the game tight and a great defensive effort by Noah, Austin, Michael, and Brett helped keep Tiverton out of our end. Great game!!
