Walkerton Loses a Close One to Start Playoffs
Walkerton traveled to Listowel Saturday Feb 19 and lost the first game of there round robin playoffs.
The guys got off to a slow start. Listowel scored in the first then at the start of the second again. After that we got a goal back by Keaton Holm on a nice deak that left a open net to start the Walkerton scoring. The rest of the second was all Walkerton. Very heavy pressure with lots of shots, but no goals.
In the third the guys kept the pressure finally got one to the back of the net on a nice play from Landon Moore stepping in off the blue line and getting the puck to Ryan Goetz with a one timer into the net.
Listowel stole the puck and seconds later got the lead back. A minute later a loose puck went off a Walkerton player and bounced into the Walkerton net. The boys stayed determined and kept coming in waves at the Listowel net. With 3 minutes left Holm got his second goal on a nice play from Chris Quartarone and Goetz.
The momentum kept the boys going to the net with the goalie pulled they made the Listowel goalie make some impressive saves and the puck just wouldn't go in the Listowel net.
This was a very good team effort from everyone with Jaden Dietz making some great saves and the defensive squad really playing some great offensive hockey. Good work Guys
