Walkerton Atom LL 1 team took part in the Walkerton Atom tournament.
On Saturday, November 13, the Walkerton Atom LL 1 team took part in the Walkerton Atom tournament.

Game #1 saw a close checking first period ending up with no scoring.  The scoring began 59 seconds into the second frame when Ethan Schmidt got one which was assisted by Ryan Goetz. Arran Elderslie #1 replied with the next goal. Landon Moore scored soon after with assists going to Goetz and Jared Pletch. Arran tied it up next and took the lead before the end of the period.  The third period was all Walkerton with Mason Stroeder scoring from Jared Pletch and Chris Quantarone. Next was another from Stroeder from Jared Pletch. The last goal of the game was provide by Goetz, unassisted. The final score was 5-3 Walkerton.

Game #2 pitted Walkerton against Durham. The play was back and forth until Landon Moore got on the game sheet from Darren Rich with 1:09 left in the period.  In the second, Walkerton scored another, midway through when Matt Markauskas assisted on Moore’s goal. The visitors replied with a goal late in the period. The third period began quickly with Moore finishing his hat trick only 49 seconds in and Durham replying 4 seconds later with one of their own. Durham then tied up the match with 3:50 left in the period. Late heroics from Ethan Schmidt sent the Walkerton team to the A division finals when he scored with only 37 seconds left, to give the team a hard fought 4-3 win.

Game #3 was the A finals against the well rounded entry from Schomberg. The game began well for the home team with a goal from Landon Moore assisted by Walker Brindley. Walkerton then went up 2-0 with a controversial  goal by Ryan Goetz. Schomberg got a late goal with 10.5 seconds left in the period. The second period saw Schomberg score three straight goals to put Walkerton down 4-2. The third period was exciting with Mason Stroeder scoring a shorthanded goal to bring his team to within 1. The Schomberg team scored one more and held on to the 5-3 win. The end result was disappointing to the home team but the coaching staff would like to note great goaltending by Jaden Dietz, super defensive work by Ty Arnold and great backchecking from Joel Pletch to go with the rest of the teams hard work, is what got the team to the finals.
