Close But No Cigar!
After last night's defeat the Walkerton McIntee Atom Rep boys jumped on the scoreboard in the first minutes of play and it looked like they might even up the series heading to Lambeth next weekend.
Lambeth would reply minutes later to tie the game. Hunter Zettler scored Walkerton's first goal assisted by Noah Leslie and Carter Buehlow. Captain Brayden McKenzie scored unassisted late in the 1st period to give Walkerton the lead again. Buehlow extended that lead to 3-1 late in the second period assisted by Leslie and Sam Lowry-Young, but Lambeth closed in on the lead a minute later and then tied it up at the beginning of the third period. The game remain tied with end to end action until Lambeth scored on a powerplay opportunity at the 5 minute mark. An empty netter by Lambeth would douse the spark the Capitals had to tie the game and hopefully send it to overtime.
A tough 5-3 loss, but these boys are a hardworking team who haven't given up and plan to hand the Lambeth Lancers 2 home ice losses next weekend in order to stay alive in their quest for a spot in the OMHA finals.
