Legion PeeWees fall to Mildmay, 5-3
written by Andy Cormack
The Walkerton Legion PeeWees played gracious hosts to their highway 9 rivals, Mildmay, on Wed. Dec 22 and gave their guests an early Christmas gift: a 5-3 win.

The home team got out to an early 2-0 lead on goals by Jake Spitzig and Jordan Dahms.  Michael McAskill and Kyle Paulitzki got the helpers on Spitzig's goal, while Christopher Cormack and Kyle Vaughan got the assists on Dahm's tally.
Mildmay then scored four straight unanswered goals to take a 4-2 lead by the end of the second period.  The Walkerton boys responded with a powerplay goal with 2:13 remaining.  Vaughan and Cormack got the helpers again on a goal by Dahms.  Mildmay scored on an empty net to make the final score 5-3.
Goalie Ryan Bester made a number of key saves to keep the hometown team in the game.
The next action for the boys will be at the Regional Silver Stick Tournament Dec. 27 and 28.
