Back To Back Games, Back To Back Shutout Wins
Outstanding shutout performance by Ryan Lair gives the boys back to back shutout wins.

With Saturdays rout of a tough Drayton squad fresh in their minds, the boys hit the road to take on Ripley the next day. After giving the fans and coaches alike a near perfect performance, the boys left little for the coaches to say pregame except for have fun and do it again.

The 1st period saw a multitude of shots and a continued assault on the young Ripley net minder. Working hard and putting everything to the net it appeared as though it was just a matter of time before the boys broke the stalemate. With a minute and a half left in the first frame the boys cracked the code. On a great hard working dig in the corner by big Ed Mckee, the puck came loose to Austin Hogg who found an open Steven Ottewell at the side of the net and Steve made no mistake to net the first of the game. Less than a minute later with time winding down on the first, Willy Schmidt fired home his first of the game on a great passing play by Chase Hauck and Andrew Young for a tic-tac-goal and a 2-0 lead.

The 2nd period brought forth an incredible showing of positioning and passing by the boys as they continued to pour everything they had at the young Ripley tender. In what seemed to be a one sided tilt the boys kept the puck in the offensive zone for the majority of the second and were unable to get one passed the keeper. All attempts put forth by Ripley attackers were quickly stymied by an unbeatable Ryan Lair in the Walkerton net.

As the 3rd period started the boys continued their onslaught of the weary Ripley tender. Continuing to move the puck around and set up teammates it didn`t take long for the boys to strike. On yet another great dig out of the corner by big Ed, the puck came loose to Austin who found Coleman Meyer and Cole fired home his first of the game. Shortly after on a solid keep in at the line by Daylan Hopcraft, Schmidt picked up the puck and found Hauck open in front of the net and Chase jammed one of his own in. After a solid season of defense so far, Michael Fortney was moved up front to see if he could make a mark and make a mark he did. on a great dig out of the corner Fortney found Hauck open and Chase slid one across to Schmidt to return the the previous gift and Willy tucked home his second of the game. With lines all shook up coaches found all three captains on a line up front for the first time and were quickly rewarded. With Fortney making a great pass across to Coleman and Cole finding an open Hauck, Chase hammered home his second on a great three way passing play from the teams captains.

Starting to become complacent with a widening lead, the guys started to have a few breakdowns. A relatively untested keeper in Ryan Lair was not to be stripped of his shutout this late in the game. With the promise of great wealth, Lair seemed poised to let nothing by. With their continued attack Lair was tested time and time again, a redirection by Ripley saw Lair stretched to the max making an unimaginable split save. Shortly after with less than a minute to play and a wide open cage, Ryan came diving across to make another highlight real worthy paddle save on what seemed to be a sure goal. (WOW!) With the puck now cleared and the shutout secure the boys broke out and with only two seconds left in the game Fortney set up yet another three way passing play with Schmidt, that sent Meyer in alone for his second of the game and a final score of 7-0.

It was another great game for the boys and the emerging trend of passing and using their teammates has become instrumental in the boys recent success. The coaches are very impressed with how you are working so hard and playing your spots and urge you to continue to move the puck. With every good pass comes an even better goal. Keep it up guys!
