Brina H strapped on the pads and entered the crease for her first ever game as a goalie in Saugeen Shores on the weekend and came away with a perfect record. While fans of the Wightman’s Atom Girls were clearly nervous, Brina showed not a single butterfly on her way to a 6-2 victory over the mighty Saugeen Shores Storm.
Brina was not the only player who provided fans a show in the game against Saugeen Shores. Scoring dynamo Samantha H potted 4 goals on the way to the impressive win.
It looked a bit scary for the Wightman Atom Girls early on when Saugeen Shores took the lead early in the first period. That lead stood up until late in the second period when Stephanie Y tied the game for Wightman’s on her way to a solid two goal performance. From there Wightman’s never looked back as Samantha H quickly scored the first of her four goals just 38 seconds later.
The third period was all Walkerton as they netted another 4 goals to Saugeen Shores’ 1. Outstanding players for Walkerton included Jenna F, Emma F and Katie S.
