Midgets Fight Back to Tie Mitchell
The Walkerton Dental Center Midget Rep boys hosted the Mitchell Meteors on Oct 26. Mitchell opened the scoring midway through the 1st. Walkerton played a much stronger second frame and knotted the score 4 minutes in, on a low shot from the the point by Kalvin Reed that was redirected into the net by sniper Jake Barclay. Mitchell regained the lead in the second. The Walkerton boys came out hard in the 3rd, but ran into a slew of penalties. While shorthanded 5 minutes in, Jake Barclay set out on a 2 on 1 with Tony Howe. Barclay gave a good feed to Howe, who made no mistake and buried it. The boys played strong hockey in the 3rd and both teams had chances to win the game. Another stellar game was put in by Jake Elliott between the pipes. Jake will be tested early and often for sure. Callup Callum Schaus also played well on defense in his first start as a Midget. Next up is Mildmay on Thursday night and then a return home on Monday Nov 02 vs. Teeswater.
