Mitchell Ties Peewee Series at 1
The Legion Peewees lost 5-3 in Mitchell Friday night, to even their first round series at a game apiece.  This was another close, hard-fought game, with Walkerton dominating the first period.

Justin Donnelly got the scoring started 3 minutes into the game to put Walkerton up 1-0.  Several minutes later it was Kyle "Digger" Paulitzki finding the net on a nice centering pass from linemate Tyson MacLennan.  Walkerton continued to pour on the pressure, but failed to score that critical third goal to put the Mitchell team on the ropes.  With 3:25 remaining, netminder Reed Leslie made several great saves on a Mitchell attack, but one of the Walkerton players was called for covering the puck in the crease, resulting in a penalty shot for Mitchell.  Again, Leslie came up with perfect positioning, causing the Mitchell shooter to go high over the net.  On the next shift, though, Walkerton's defense failed on several attempts to clear the zone, allowing Mitchell to score their first of the game.  Mitchell took a misconduct penalty after the play, and Walkerton came roaring back on the power play, with Matt Lang walking in for a blast from the left side, but the Mitchell goalie made a huge glove save and Walkerton failed to capitalize on the penalty.
In the second frame, it was Lang again, setting up Isaac Elliott in front, but again the Mitchell goalie came up big. Mitchell evened the score on a low drive through traffic, and later added another on the power play, with Walkerton's Ryan Young in the box for hooking.  Late in the period, defensemen Jackson Stark and Luke Zettel set up Lucas Bester with a great chance, but Bester couldn't solve the Mitchell goalie either, and Walkerton went to the dressing room down 3-2.
In the third, Walkerton took some key penalties, allowing Mitchell to score 2 more goals, putting the game out of reach.  The Legion boys showed real fight, though, as Bester came back and banked one in off the goalie for Walkerton's third of the night, to close out the scoring.
Mitchell returns to Walkerton for game 3 Wednesday night.
