Prestige Brings Home Consolation Championship
Walkerton’s Prestige Contracting Atom LL participated in the Mildmay Monarchs 51st Annual Atom Tournament on March 20th and ended their hockey season by winning the Consolation Championship defeating Teeswater 3-2 in Sudden Death Overtime.
The team was defeated in their opening game against the Barrie Colts who went on to claim the Tournament Championship. In the second game Walkerton defeated Owen Sound 8-7 with Drew Cobean picking up a hat trick and an assist. Ty Arnold netted 2 goals, singles were added by Thomas Crummer, Nick Fairminer and Connor Johnson.
The Consolation final against Teeswater required OT to determine a Champion. 30 seconds into the sudden death overtime period Nick Fairminer scored on a pass from Drew Cobean. Fairminer and Scott Eddyvean scored earlier in the game.
Player of the Game awards, named by the opponent’s Coaches for each game, were presented to Drew Cobean, Nick Fairminer and Ben Schmidt.
