2 More Wins for Prestige Atoms
After their first defeat of the season last weekend, a 4-3 loss to a strong Mount Forest Team the Prestige Contracting Atoms bounced back with 2 well deserved wins. The first win came on the road against Durham with a 3-2 win and the second win was also a 3-2 victory against neighbouring Hanover who the team had tied in their matchup earlier in the season.
Ben Schmidt chalked up both wins with some amazing saves to give his team the edge against their opponents. In the Durham victory Connor Johnson, Nick Fairminer and Noah Currie got the goals. Drew Cobean and Scott Eddyvean each picked up 2 assists, and Fairminer with 1 assist. Also working hard for the team, even though their names were absent from the score sheet, were Sam Byers, Ty Arnold, Thomas Crummer, Christian Keiffer, Jordan Bester and Ryan Girdler.
The game against Hanover was end to end action and even in the dying minutes Hanover made every attempt to tie the score but Schmidt was determined to keep the win for the team, not allowing the puck to get over the goal line. Scoring for Walkerton was Nick Fairminer (2) and Connor Johnson (1). The referees only recorded goals for this game but everyone worked hard moving the puck up the ice into the Hanover net.
The team hosts Tiverton on December 27th at 5pm.
