Reed rockets 2 in heartbreaking loss
The BDO Midget LL boys faced off against Arran Elderslie on Thursday Feb 26 in Walkerton.  After stumbling out of the gate (Chesley scored 15 seconds in), BDO dominated the rest of the first period while falling behind 2-0.  Goal posts, a disallowed goal, good bounces and perhaps a horseshoe were friends of the Chesley goalie (he did play very well though !!).  The second period was more even, when rangy defencement Kalvin Reed snuck off the point into the high slot to roof one over the sprawling goalie, following a goal mouth scramble.  The second period ended 2-1 for Chesley.  In the 3rd , Junior Berberich was digging hard in the corner when he was crosschecked for a penalty.  After the play, he got a smack from another Chesley player for a concurrent penalty.  The resulting 5 on 3 power play ensued with a picture perfect goal resulting with Kalvin Reed getting his second of the game with a hard slapper from the point, to knot the score at 2 (Nathan O'Reilly won the faceoff clean to Colton Louther, who dished it over to Kalvin, who let go a one timer rocket !!!!!).  For the second playoff game in a row the BDO boys had rallied from 2 goals down to tie it in the third.  Unfortunatley, for the second game in a row the opponent found the net late, on a nifty breakaway against a very strong Mark Ferguson handing BDO its second loss, after a recent 15 game streak with only 1 tight loss.  The boys will need to rally hard now and finish this round robin very strong in order to advance to the finals.  Only 1 team of 6 will go on.  Next up is a rematch with Chesley, in Paisley, on Monday night.
