Rob Cook Memorial Tourney
Walkerton PWU wins championship trophy - For the first time since the Rob Cook Memorial Bantam Tournament began in Walkerton, a local team has won the trophy!

The Walkerton PWU Bantam local league team captured the tournament title with an 8-1 win over Mount Brydges in the final game.  The local boys opened the day long event Saturday against Listowel.  Walkerton came out flying and skated to a 7-1 win.  Derek Al had his best game ever, scoring four goals and adding an assist.  Lance Rock netted one goal and three helpers while Derek Merchant scored once and chipped in two assists.  The final tally went to Cory Paulitzki in a game that saw every PWU team member record at least one point.  In game two, the PWU boys faced the other Walkerton entry, the CMR bantams, and came away with a 6-1 victory.  Wesley Cameron made many key saves to give his team the confidence it needed to win again.  Six different PWU players scored in this game including Dylan Murray, Lance Rock, Nick Schmidt, Curtis Davidson, Derek Al and Derek Merchant.  The back to back wins advanced the PWU squad to the final game against Mount Brydges.  Once again, Walkerton came out flying and earned both an 8-1 win and the championship trophy.  Schmidt, Al and Rock scored two apiece in the final with singles from Merchant and Murray.  Cameron was again solid between the pipes.  The stars of the game were the strong defensemen: Caleb Diebold, Curtis Davidson, Kyle Scheuerman and Justus Hickey.
The coaching staff said afterwards they were very proud of all the boys for putting forth a great team effort and showing great sportsmanship throughout the tournament!!
