Legion's Game Three of Round Robin
The Legion Peewee boys welcomed the visiting team from Mitchell, Wednesday Feb 25 to continue their round robin playoffs. Still floating from their win against Minto, Walkerton's enthusiasm was contagious as they took to the ice.
Scoring began late in the first period when Mitchell netted 2 goals in close succession. Walkerton must have added energy drinks to their water bottles for the second as the defense was unpenetrable to Mitchell's advances. The Legion lads offensive lines fed off their backup and cashed in when Max Barclay scored unassisted.
The third period began with Mitchell's fierce offense netting two more goals to bring the score to 4-1. The Legion boys will always be remembered for their unwillingness to give up. This game was no exception when Matt Lang made his mark with a pass from Max. Mitchell brought one more home to end the game 5-2. During a private interview with one of the players, this reporter was informed that this series has been the most fun the Legion team has had. With close games and incredible plays these boys should be very proud of their efforts.
