OMG. (One Magnificent Game)
The fans of the Legion Peewee boys were treated to a heartstopping game Monday Feb 23 in the Harriston arena. The bleachers were cold but the ice was red hot as Walkerton gave 110% to defeat the Minto team.
Period 1 began fast and furious with both squads digging in their heels, but neither side could net a goal. The second period showed the same tenacity from our young players and to the coaches credit displayed some amazing plays. Minto miraculously found a spot to take the lead. Walkerton didn't waste any time answering back when Mitchell Eckert set up a beautiful pass for Josh Hamilton to poke in. With the score tied at one, the fans watched in anticipation as the minutes ran out. LOL (Lose Our Lunch) As the overtime period began our fellas looked as though they were losing steam. Minto took shot after shot but could not beat our goalie. Walkerton regained the upper hand and dominated the play until Cole Stark saw his chance to smash one in, unassisted, to end the game.
It truly was an amazing team effort, with every player doing his part. Jesse Lamont was fantastic in net. Whatever he had for supper, should be on the table on Wednesday night when Mitchell comes to Walkerton. O.M.G. (One Mighty Goalie)
