Wightman Girls Win Game One in Year End Tournament!
Wightman Atom girls traveled to Belmore for round one of their year end tournament, and didn't disappoint the fans!
First game in Belmore this weekend our girls met up with Durham again. Our girls were sure and confident, and out to win! They came out strong and kept the play in Durhams end most of the first period, but failed to get one past the goalie.
Second period the girls came out flying, and weren't disappointed. Justine M was the first to score (her first of the year too!) 6 minutes in, off a pass from Courtney B and Dana B! A few minutes later Samantha H banged one home off a pass from Georgina M.
Our girls were determined to make it a sure thing with the win, and came out blazing in the third. Courtney B banged one in past the Durham goalie, assisted by Sophie B and Samantha H. Topping it off, Courtney B scored a second goal with 50 seconds left, assisted by Samantha H, to make it a 4-0 win!
As always the entire team was solid, great digging in the corners by all of the forwards, and great play keeping the puck down out of our end from the defense. As always, Charlene Pippi S was solid between the pipes!
