Wightman Atoms Win Last Game of the Regular Season
Wightman Atom Girls traveled to Durham for their last regular season game. They went there determined to win, and their fans were not disappointed!
Our girls faced off at noon hour, hungry for a win. The first period started off fast and furious, the play always in Durhams end, with countless attempts on net. Finally at 5:14 in the first period, Sophie B passed to an open Krista K, and Krista sent it blazing past the Durham goalie.
The second period was relentless with the girls pounding the pucks at the Durham goalie, who somehow managed to keep the puck out of the net. Play stayed in the Durham end thanks to some solid defence playing by Jessica S, Georgina M, Moira R and Ally B. Forwards kept pounding on the net, great job Sophie B, Krista K, Dana B, Justine M, Ashlyn C, Bailey T, Samantha H, Courtney B and Brooklyn S. As always a great show between the pipe by dynamite goalie Charlene "PippI" S.
Third period our Wightman Atom girls came out strong, Brooklyn S assisted Ashlyn C just seconds into the third. A minute later, the team of Samantha H assisting Courtney B, managed to get one past, and then again, Samantha assisted Courtney, making it a 4-0 game.
