Wightman Atom Girls play well at Cambridge Roadrunners Tournament
The Wightman Telecom Girls Atom team participated in the Cambridge Roadrunners Tournament this past weekend, January 9th-11th.  Our girls went out to play their best, and they did.

The first game was at noon on Friday, where Walkerton met with a determined Saugeen Shores team.  The teams were very closely matched, and it was a great game to watch.  The girls all had a great game, but came out with a 2-0 loss.  MVP was awarded to goalie Charlene "Pippi".

The girls showed up for their second game at 5pm, the games were running behind, and the girls were getting restless.  After an uplifting pep-talk from Guy, the girls were ready to play hockey, and did they ever!  The game was quite close, with Bailey T scoring the first goal, and Samantha H netting the second shortly after...it was a 2-0 game for the girls for quite a while, and then Niagara Falls got the best of Pippi.  The girls were able to hold their lead for a 2-1 win!  They were back in the running!  MVP was awarded to Center Courtney B.

The third game was played against Cambridge, at 8am Saturday morning.  The girls were raring to go, and took the ice early, cheering.  Our girls came out strong, the teams were quite well matched.  Despite all of their tries, we just couldn't seem to get the puck past the Cambridge goalie.  The girls played some of the best hockey we have seen all year, but the score ended up a 2-0 loss.  MVP was awarded to Bailey T.

Wightman girls played their hearts out, and playing good hockey is what it's all about.  Our forward lines consisted of Bailey T, Courtney B, Dana B, Justine M, Vickey S, Krista K, Ashlyn C, Ally B, Samantha H, and Brooklyn S.  Our strong defense line consists of Georgina M, Sophie B, Moira R, and Jessica S.  As always, a wall between the pipes, Charlene "Pippi" S is our goalie.  Congrats on great games played ladies!
