Cuneo Atoms Win in Wingham
In a Friday evening game Cuneo Interior Atoms traveled to Wingham looking to gain another win after a heart breaking loss on the weekend.  After three periods and hard work by both the offence and the defence, a win is exactly what they got.

Walkerton Cuneo Atoms started out strong in the first and second periods, scoring all four of our goals in the these two periods.  Showing Wingham that we meant business, a quick drive to the net by forward Jacob Weber resulted in our first goal of the game, only 15 seconds into the game.  Keeping Wingham at bay was not an easy feat, but strong defence and great passing to the Cuneo forwards we were able to keep the majority of play in the home end.  Three minutes later another drive to the net, a determined Connor Johnson knocked in  a beautiful second goal straight to the back of the net.  But Wingham wasn't ready to call a defeat yet, with less than a minute in the first period Wingham answered back with their first goal of the game, leaving the first period at a 2 to 1 score.
This game saw some fantastic passing from forwards Jordan Dahms and Quinn Tremble.  Mid way through the second period, due to passing and some very hard work, the pass was made to an open Connor Johnson who skated his way to the net once again, lifting the puck off the ice, he gained his second goal of the game, and the third for team Cuneo.  Walkerton was hampered by penalties during this game, giving our team the challenge of playing short handed, each time they were able to play out a man short and keep the scoring from happening.
Although the third period was all about Walkerton trying to keep the game as a win for them, Wingham gave a last ditched effort to gain the lead in this game.  On two different occasions Wingham forwards were able to skate past and and score on the Cuneo net.  However Cuneo was able to stay in the game because of excellent net minding by Calder Davidson; together with Calder and a hard working defence, the score was left at a 4 to 3 win for Walkerton.
