Bantams Play Well at Silver Stick
The Walkerton Joy Source for Sports Bantam Rep boys team travelled to Kincardine this past weekend for the annual Silver Stick regional tournament.

Their first opponent saturday morning was the undefeated Listowel Cyclones.  The boys gave up the first tally only a minute into the game however strong forechecking and persistant puck pursuit lead to the tying goal by David Carroll, assisted by Brandan King.  Listowel would answer with seconds left on the clock to go ahead 2-1 after 1.  The second period featured more back and forth hockey with the Listowel goaltender making some amazing saves only to be matched by his counterpart at the other end in Cole Dales.  Listowel would add one more goal late in the second to go up 3-1 and with another goal in the third they were able to ice the game which featured many scoring chances for Walkerton.
The second game saw the Bantam boys come up against a formidable foe in BCH.  Walkerton came out fast knowing that if the wanted to hoist the coveted Silver Stick they would surely have to win this game.  Once again the boys created numerous scoring opportunities but were denied by the BCH goaltender.  This allowed BCH to grab the first goal of the game midway through the first period.  The score would remain this way until early in the second when Kurtis Inglis grabbed a loose puck in front of the BCH goalie and bury Walkertons first of the game.  Continuous chances were stymied by BCH's defense and early on in the third they would score 2 more to make the score 3-1.  Wendel Cameron would score a beauty breakaway goal to bring the Caps within 1 but that is as far as they would get dropping a heartbreaking 3-2 game.  Monday saw the boys competing for pride against an Erin-Hillsburgh team that was also out to prove their previous losses were a fluke.  Walkerton won the game 2-1 on some great goaltending by Cole Dales and goals from Zachary Petteplace and Justin Reinhart.
