Atom Girls Start The Season Strong!

The Knight of Columus Atom Girls started their 2007-2008 hockey season on October 20 in Walkerton against Chatsworth. The game ended 14-0 for Walkerton.

    Goals were scored by Leah Kittel (2), Emily Cormack(2), Jenah Van Loon (3), Lily Starling, Melynda McKenzie, Arianne Beglaw (2), Monica Fritz, Natalie Hawkins & Jenna Haight. Assists went to Cormack, Jasmine Thompson(2), Madison Elliott, Michele Bester & Kittel.
    Kincardine traveled to Walkerton on October 24th. Although the girls fought hard they were defeated 4-0. The girls then traveled to Tiverton on Oct 30th and skated to a 7-0 win. Bester started the scoring in the first period assisted by Kittel. Hawkins kept the momentum going with an unassisted goal. Cormack scored in the second period assisted by Joelle Busby. Busby scored the next goal assisted by Van Loon and Ashley Ernst. Thompson scored two more goals with assists going to Van Loon and Ernst with one each. VanLoon also netted one more assisted by Thompson.
    Markdale was their next match-up. It was a close and fast skating game that ended in a 2-2 tie. Van Loon opened the scoring in the first period assisted by Thompson and Ernst. Markdale battled back in the second scoring 2 goals. The girls fought hard to stay in the game in the third with goalie Charlene Sullivan making some key saves. All of their hard work paid off when McKenzie scored unassisted.
    Meaford was the next destination and the girls were victorious with a 5-0 win. Thompson netted 2 goals, with 1 each to Starling and Fritz. Assists went too VanLoon, Kittel and Beglaw. Another great shutout by Sullivan.
