Easthill Girls place 4th at the Panthers on the Prowl Tournament
Our Novice girls travelled to St Thomas this past weekend and played well.

Friday December 7th our girls faced off with Windsor in the morning.  Samantha H, #5, had her first game on centre, coming up from defense for the game.  Our girls played very well, keeping play in the other end, and testing thier goalie.  Late in the second period Samantha H, #5 slide one past the Windsor goalie unassisted for her first goal of the season.  Later, in the 3rd #17, Brooklyn S and #11, Krista K, worked together to pass the puck through to #8, Jordenne V, who was able to find the back of the net.  Despite heroic efforts, goalie Georgina M, #30, found herself on the wrong end of some bad bounces and rebounds, and the game ended in a 4-2 loss.  Player of the game was given to #5, Samantha H.

Friday afternoon our girls laced up again, to face off with Lambeth.  The girls were ready for a win, and came out strong.  This game found #6, Claire W playing centre, up from defence.  The first period was even play until the end when #10, Hope D passed up to #8, Jordenne V to bang one in with 40 seconds left in the period.  The girls keep on the puck, keeping control of the game.  #12, Ally B passed out front of the net for #11, Krista K to get her first goal of the tournement.  Not long after it was #8, Jordenne V passing it out to #11, Krista K again to find the back of the net.  The last goal of the game was put in by #8, Jordenne V, who was assisted by #5, Samantha H and #4, Sophie B.  Goaltender Georgina M, #30 was only beat once in the game, leaving the score at 4-1 with a win for our girls.  Player of the game was given to goalie Georgina M, #30.

Saturday morning the girls went up again St Thomas.  #10, Hope D was up in centre from defence for this game.  Our Easthill girls dominated the game, but could not seem to find any holes at the net through the St Thomas goaltender.  Goalie Georgina M, #30, did an amazing job in net, with the only goal getting past her being a deflection off of our own girls skates.  The game ended in a dissppointing loss, dispite our girls control of the game.  Player of the game was given to #2, Courtney W.

The 3rd and 4th place game was Sunday morning.  Our Easthill girls faced off against Lambeth again.  This time it was #2, Courney W in centre, up from defence.  Our girls played hard and strong.  #11, Krista K found the back of the net again, with an assist from #8, Jordenne V.  But With 3 minutes left in the game, the girls found themselves on the wrong side of a 2-1 score.  Knowing that this was thier last chance, the girls gave it everything they had and a pass from #11, Krista K, and #8, Jordenne V, Courtney W, #2 was able to find the back of the net, bringing the game to a 2-2 tie.  Unfortunatly, Lambeth managed a break away, and slide one past our goaltender with 16 seconds left in the game, leaving the score 3-2.  Our girls won 4th place medals, and player of the game was given to #11, Krista K.

Every one of the girls on the team played amazing this weekend. Wingers Sophie B, #4,  Brina H, #16, Courney B, #14, Brooklyn S, #17, Krista K, #11, Bailey T, #3 did a great job getting the puck out front of the net, and digging for it at the boards.  Our centres, #8, Jordenne V and #12 Ally B were everywhere, and played great.  Our defense #2, Courtney W, #7, Erika S, #10, Hope D, #6 Claire  W and #5, Samantha H worked hard at keeping the puck out of our end and in the other end, they also protected goaltender Georgina M, #30 to the best of thier abilities.  Every girl played great at every game.

We are proud of the good sportsmanship all of the girls showed and know that the team is improving with every game!

Way to go Walkerton!
