Strong team play strengthens Cuneos Atom’s playoff position.
With three tight playoff games in 3 days the Cuneos Local League Atoms posted their strongest team performance in the final game against Teeswater.

The weekend started out with a tight loss to the Kincardine Local League Team 1 in the final minutes of the game after some questionable officiating calls interjected themselves twice in the final two minutes of the game, influencing the outcome of the game.  Scoring for Cuneos in the 4-3 loss was Jacob Weber assisted by Ryan Young.  Ryan Young assisted by Darian Beglaw and Brayden Davidson (unassisted).

The next game again saw Cuneos struggling in the final minutes of regular time with questionable officiating calls interjecting themselves into the outcome of the game.  Cuneos players never gave up though, losing by a squeaker in overtime, 3-2.  Outstanding goaltending by Brennan Wagner kept Cuneos close.  Scoring for Cuneos in this game was Brendan Carmount assisted by Brayden Davidson and Ryan Young (unassisted).

Sunday night saw Cuneos travelling to Teeswater to take on the strong and talented team there.  In a close fought end to end game Cuneos regrouped and played the high speed, great passing, team work game they have become known for.  For Cuneos fans it was a treat to see the team come out so strong after some disappointing outcomes despite their great play.

Quinn Tramble, Reed Leslie, Austin Myers and Jacob Weber showed outstanding effort coming close to putting the game out of reach for Teeswater on several occasions.  Scoring for Cuneos in the winning 4-2 effort were Jordan Dahms, a dominant player during the game, assisted by Kyle Paulitzki after a great effort by Bryce Martin.  Isaac Elliot pinched in on defense netting the 2nd goal assisted by Jordan Dahms and Kyle Paulitzki.  Defensemen Brayden Davidson showed how versatile the Cuneos defense has become, scoring the 3rd goal assisted by Jordan Dahms.  Netting the insurance goal was Brendan Carmount assisted by Austin Myers.

This win puts Cuneos right in the hunt in this year’s Atom Local League playoffs.  With several teams closely matched, continued strong team play will see Cuneos pushing hard to be the top team.
