Cuneos Atoms struggle but find way to win. Extend record to 12-2-2
Facing a much improved Howick team the Local League Cuneos Atoms still found a way to win 3 to 1 in their January 6th game. Struggling a bit early, Cuneos settled down to return to the regular team play and passing that has made them such a strong team this year.
With improved goaltending and stronger offensive play Howick proved to be a real challenge to Cuneos early on. Howick jumped out to an early first period lead. Cuneos came back quickly though tying the game a minute and a half later thanks to an unassisted goal by Jacob W.
The score remained tied with end to end action until late in the second period when Brayden D, who played an outstanding defensive game as well, charged in with what proved to be the winning goal.
Late in the third Brendan C, assisted by Brennan W iced the win with a highlight reel goal. Strong goaltending by Jordan D, challenging the Howick team and covering for a few defensive breakdowns kept Cuneos close when called upon.
This win brings the Cuneos Local League Atoms record to an impressive 12 wins, 2 ties and 2 losses. Great work guys!
