The Walkerton Ladies Midget “A” team is riding a twelve game unbeaten streak into their Silver Stick weekend, the Lower Lakes playdowns, and the OMHA playoffs.

The latest being a solid 5-0 victory over the Woodstock team in their own arena. A game that unfortunately showed why the home team is, as of this writing, leading the entire Lower Lakes Midget A league with over 300 minutes in penalties. The visitors played hard and ignored as much as they could of the undisciplined competition, scoring three times in the second, and twice more in the third. Cassidy Becker earned the shutout in net.

Two games in eight days against local rival Saugeen Maitland, resulting in a victory and a tie. In the first game Joelle Busby from Elyse Bridgewater, then Leah Kittel from Julie Thomson makes it 2-1 late in the game before and empty netter and 3-1 the final. In the rematch, despite outplaying them in period one, Saugeen would have a 2-1 lead. Jasmine Thompson would notch both goals for Walkerton, with Elyse Bridgewater earning the lone assist. The visitors managed to get one more to go by Erica Parker, and the game ends in a 2-2 tie. Walkerton outshooting the opponent by approx two-to-one margin.

A trip down to Guelph to play the Gryphons again, and another win this time 2-0. Another well played game with both the offence and defense contributing equally, not to mention Cas Becker protecting the twine and coming up big when needed. Leah Kittel would notch both goals in this match with Ally Spielmacher and Julie Thomson earning the assists.

Finally, London was in town and seven different players managed a point in the 4-1 win. After a scoreless first, Joelle Busby from Julie Thomson would open the scoring. Then Gabby Jex from Ashley Delapena and Rebecca Rier would get in on the action before Thomson would get one of her own with Elyse Bridgewater assisting. Then Bridgewater would bury one, with Jasmine Thompson helping, and cruise home from there.

This weekend sees the team travel to Sarnia for the International Silver Stick. As well, the first round of the Lower Lakes playdowns is to be completed by Feb 15th. As of right now, it will be either Woodstock or Kitchener that must face the Walkerton team.
