Visiting Kincardine for the opening of the league championship series Walkerton knew they were taking on a team that had finished ahead of them in regular season. But they clearly did not let that intimidate them.
With outstanding goaltending by Reed Leslie Walkerton and Kincardine played through the first two periods in end to end action that had spectators on the edge of their seats.
Early in the third Isaac Elliot won an offensive zone face off handily shovelling the puck back to Liam Robertson who fired a hard shot at the net from the point. Picking up the juicy rebound Austin Hickey made no mistake and Walkerton found themselves in the lead.
With time ticking down Kincardine took a neutral zone face off and got in alone to tie the game.
Walkerton took the game to Kincardine in the 1 over-time period, but was unable to find the net. Some big time saves by Reed Leslie kept Walkerton in the game until the end of over time.
This gives both Kincardine and Walkerton a single point in the series. With the tie, the goal for Walkerton is now to get to 4 points first. Walkerton has now gone 10 games without a loss. Upcoming games are Wednesday, March 23 at 7 pm in Walkerton and Sunday, March 27 at 7:30pm in Kincardine.
