WE WIN!!!
Team has first shut out of the season!

Dec 20th we travelled to Tiverton and with the Christmas spirit in the air the Novice team played amazing.  Aaron changed up the lines a bit just to see how things worked and it proved to be a great move.  In the first period Walkerton had to play a tough defense and then they came on strong.  Jacob Weiler started off the scoring by putting one past their goalie assisted by Jackson Wells.  Then young Aiden Hinsperger (AP) showed off his ability to play with the older kids by sneaking in another goal that was assisted by Lucas.  The fans were so excited as we headed into the second period ahead.  This was a very good sign.
The second period Jacob Weiler met some tough defense on a few breakaways but was still able to put one in the net assisted by Aiden Hinsperger.  Matt Markauskas was in net for Walkerton and was all over the shots on net.  Nothing was getting past him today!
Into the third period, the tension grew in the stands as we could feel we were on the verge of a win.  Walkerton wanted to go out with a bang and that we did.  Let the scoring begin with Aiden slipping a quick one into the net with the help of Clint Holiday and then 2 minutes later Jacob assisted by Curtis Shaidle dumped his third one in the net for a hat trick!  The fans were on their feet.  With 4:58 left in the third period Jacob slipped another one past their goalie from a tip by Melissa Laird.  The rest of the period everyone was excited to watch the great goal tending by Matt to maintain his first shutout of the season.  Way to go Matt!!
When the horn sounded to end the game I don't know who were more excited the players or the parents.  The dressing room was a buzz as the proud parents joined the players.  Everyone played an amazing game and it was obvious that they are coming together as a team.  What a great way to finish off before Christmas.  Lets hope that "pre-Christmas" excitement carries over to the New Year and many more wins in the future!  Way to go team!!
