W.O.A.A. Champs!!
Walkerton can add another trophy to the case, thanks to the drive and determination of Webers Electric Peewee boys. Wednesday, March 19, in front of 1000 or so fans, Walkerton claimed their well deserved title as W.O.A.A. Peewee LL Champs. We all knew we were in for a heart stopper, when Teeswater scored early in the first period.
Chase Louther was not about to stand around and take that. He must have taped the puck to his stick as he weaved through the defense and scored unassisted. Teeswater answered back within seconds taking back the lead, to end the first period. Curtis Davidson was the next player to rise to the challenge and, with the assist going to goalie Jesse Lamont, forced in the tieing goal. With lots of suspense and breath taking chances, Walkerton pressed hard on Teeswater's net. They found the weak spot in the early minutes of the 3rd, when Max Barclay scored unassisted. Again Teeswater dug in hard and evened the score.
Now pay attention-this is where it gets good. With two minutes left in the game, the fans were treated to some amazingly, smart (and clean) team play, when Chase Louther snapped the net. Assists going to the solid effort of Caleb Diebold and Curtis Davidson. The play bounced back and forth between the two ends, sending the parents into cardiac arrest. Caleb Diebold helped us all breathe easier when he sizzled in the extra goal, assisted by Curtis Davidson. With the boys starting to look a little tired, they all dug down deep and came up with an extra burst of energy to continue to defend to the end.
This was definitely one of their most exciting games of the year.
