Juvenile - Four Peat
The John Ernewein juveniles have successfully defended their Regional Silver Stick Title!
Delhi came out with a much more determined effort than they showed in the earlier morning game. They jumped out to a 1 - 0 lead at the 5:02 mark off of a power play. Walkerton continued to create offensive pressure with a good forecheck and a strong cycle game eventually tying the game at the 10:04 mark on a goal from Paul Gill assisted by Eric Elliott and Sean Costie. Delhi again took the lead on a power play goal with only 56 seconds left in the first period. The juvies determined to not let Delhi build off of their momentum answered right back with only 9 seconds left in the period off of the stick of Jake Barclay with helpers going to Kyle Parks and Trevor Robinson. But to Delhi's credit they didn't give up and scored at the 6:10 mark of the second period to take the lead for the third time. The guys did not let the officiating deter them and continued to exert pressure five on five getting the game equalizer at 4:32 of the second by Sean Costie from Gill and Elliott. Continuing the relentless attack the guys finally took the lead at the 0.1 second mark off of an offensive draw with only 2.2 showing at the puck drop. Paul Gill won the draw forward fed the puck to the net and Sean Costie banged home the eventual game winner. Walkerton came out in the third and buried two more both from Costie assisted by Mac Cassidy on the first and Gill on the second. Capitals skated off with the 6 - 3 win and a much deserved championship. Congratulations guys on your hard work and resilience. Sean Costie earned game MVP honors with a 4 goal 1 assist performance. The team will now prepare for International Silver Stick in early January. Go Capitals Go!
